Hello Coastal Quilters!

This is a test message as we set up our new blog!  We hope this will make checking on meetings, speakers, announcements and members easy for everyone.  If you have a blog and would like it listed in the “Blogs I Follow” blogroll on the right, please email Sarah Ann Smith with your blog address and she’ll figure out how to add it!

The Search box at the top of the sidebar to the right is your new best friend.  If there is something you are looking for, just type a key word or two in and it will pull up related posts.  For example (once we get a bunch of posts up, of course), you want to know the agenda for the September 2014 meeting, just type September 2014 into the search box.  OR use the category list.

For categories, if you want to see posts about all of our speakers (for example, you remember reading something about one of our speakers but can’t quite remember how to spell the name), click on the dropdown box for categories, then speakers, and the posts that are categorized by “speaker” will appear.  If you can think of any categories you would like (see drop-down box on the right), let Sarah or Louisa Enright know.  Sarah set things up with a few categories to begin.

For now, Louisa, Gail and Sarah will be administrators.  If you have something you would like to post to the blog, contact one of us.  Once we’ve got things working, we may be able to add Contributors or editors.  For example, I (Sarah) am thinking that having Stevie be able to upload her press releases would be great!

I’m also thinking that each year once we’ve had our elections, we can post the list of Board Members.  Then you can use your Members’ Booklet to find their address.  I’m also going to explore creating a private page where we can list contact information, but am a bit leery of putting that information “out there” even if it is a passworded page–in other words only those paid-in-full members with the password, which would be changed annually, could get access.  Let Sarah know what you think.

That’s it for now.  Add a comment to let us know what you would like to see happening on our blog!
