Working on BIG Brown Scrappy Quilt
Mostly, I’m testing if I can post to this blog AND add some pictures.
Some months ago, Bonnie Hunter issued a leader/ender challenge of a split light/dark block.
Of course, she finished hers some time ago.
I’m still plugging away.
Here are my Split Nine-Patch blocks:
They are not red, actually, but warm browns and, sometimes, a deeper red/brown.
Here’s the quilt taking shape on my design wall:
I’m really enjoying the novel way to off-set the light/dark. It’s from Lynn Roddy Brown (lynnroddybrown.com), and she took it from a batik quilt made by Elizabeth Broussard that appeared in Brown’s book PATCHWORK PLAY QUILTS. Brown’s version appeared in the January/February 2014 issue of QUILTMAKER magazine. I am only using the center piece as I modified the block to work with 2 1/2-inch squares that make a 6-inch block. This quilt will be something like 96 inches square and will have 256 blocks.

PS: This blog works just like mine, and it’s EASY! We’re going to have so much fun with it!
