Minutes of the October 11, 2014 Meeting
Coastal Quilters Chapter
Pine Tree Quilt Guild
Meeting was called to order at 10 am.
Louisa Enright welcomed new members and guests.
Quilt show pamphlets were distributed.
Announcement was made about the new Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt.
Linda Shepard presented a program featuring her first quilts progressing to her current pieces.
After the program, there was a refreshment break. Refreshments provided by Leigh Smith and Lisa Niles, and included a beautiful cake with a picture of the Coastal Quilters banner on top.
The business meeting started at 11 am.
September minutes were approved.
The treasurer’s report was approved.
The Donation Account is at the First Bank and the information about this was sent to all members in and email by Louisa Enright.
Donations for the auction on November 8, 2014, were requested. Both Georges’ Valley and Coastal Quilters are sponsoring this event. There will be a silent auction table, a sale table, and a live auction. Cost of hiring a professional auctioneer will be shared 50/50 between both chapters. Items such as quilts, placemats, sweaters, scarves, runners, wallhangings, jellyroll strips, precut squares will be auctioned/sold.
Set up will be November 7, 2014 (Friday) at 1 pm. Last minute items may be brought in at this time.
Doors open Saturday at 9 am and expected closing is between 12 and 1 pm.
Eleanor will collect donations for the auction.
The auction is open to the public as well as chapter members.
The following tables/positions are needed.
1. Door greeter to hand out auction plates and register attendees who wish to participate in the auction. Linda Satkowski volunteered.
2. Refreshments–these will be provided by members of both chapters.
3. Sales Table- Price your own items when donating. Margaret Elaine Jinno and Rebecca Babb-Brott volunteered to work this table.
4. Auction Assistants– one will be needed from each chapter. For CQ, Lisa Niles.
Door prize was drawn and a collection of orange fabrics was won by Sybil Wentworth, one of our visitors
Show and Tell was held.
An announcement was made about the exhibit of quilts from the Camden Historical Society at the Camden Public Library during the month of March.
Janet Kelsey was in charge of this exhibit and gave a lecture on the quilts at the opening of the exhibit.
