Maine Quilts 2016: Challenge Quilts

Coastal Quilters’s 2016 challenge was to create quilts that were 16 by 16 inches, made from exactly 16 pieces of fabric, using only black, white, gray, and two complementary colors (all solids). We could embellish them any way we liked, as long as we used those colors.

The photo below shows the final layout, designed by curator extraordinaire Sarah Ann Smith. Here, they hang on Sarah’s design wall before she hung them at this year’s Pine Tree Quilters Guild annual show (July 28-31 at the Civic Center in Augusta). They looked wonderful in the final display. Thank you Sarah!
