NAME TAG GUIDELINES
Your name tag should
- be a rectangle with a finished measurement of 5 inches wide and 4 inches high (5 by 4 inches).
- include a LIGHTHOUSE.
- have the words “COASTAL QUILTER” and YOUR NAME
Basic Instructions for one design possibility:
Cut 3 rectangles 5 ½ inches by 4 ½ inches: one from fabric to represent the sky, one from fabric you want to use as backing, one from a light-weight batting.
Select a lighthouse and any other elements you wish to include, such as sea, rocks, birds, flowers, in order to create a scene of your choice.
Remember to leave a space to write Coastal Quilters and your name.
Use a fusible transfer web such as Wonder-Under or Heat and Bond to arrange and fuse your scene onto the sky fabric. You may wish to stitch around the edges to help secure them.
Decide how you want to wear your name tag: a cord or ribbon around your neck or a safety pin on the back to pin to your clothing.
Use a permanent ink pen to write in Coastal Quilters and your name.
Layer the batting, backing, and the front, right sides together. If you are using a cord or ribbon to wear around your neck, position those ends into the seam allowance, with the cord/ribbon inside the name tag. Stitch a ¼ inch seam around the edges, leaving a small opening to turn the tag right sides out. Press lightly and slip stitch the hole closed.
Voila, you are done!
